Stunning Santee poll results highlight incumbents desperation

Santee Election Poll Results

In stunning poll results, a courageous challenge by Santee’s Evlyn-Andrade Heymsfield to incumbent Rob McNelis provides insight into why the McNelis campaign has unleashed a flood of negativity in the District 1 campaign. Evlyn leads the race at 61% to McNelis 39%.

McNelis and his surrogates have repeatedly used personal attacks in an effort to narrow the massive gap. McNelis utilized a negative campaign strategy in his failed run for mayor when he repeatedly attacked John Minto with robotic calls that could have left you with the impression that Minto was akin to a Marxist.

McNelis position favoring development of Fanita Ranch puts him in a place completely contrary to the residents in District 1 that must commute over Mast Boulevard and Highway 52. His inability to compete on this major land use issue means he and his surrogates must divert attention through personal attacks to try and make up ground.

Don’t be fooled by McNelis and his surrogates negative tactics. To be assured that a massive development on Fanita Ranch won’t destroy your commute – Elect Evlyn in District 1.

Santee District 3 Poll Results

Zack Gianino (who opposes Fanita Ranch along with Evlyn) has a 12 point lead in the District 3 open seat. Both Zack and Evlyn have been endorsed by Santee City Councilman Stephen Houlahan. Laura Koval, 42%, is backed by the status-quo and is currently a distant second to Zack Gianino. Lynda Marrokal trails at 4%.

Zack has also been the subject of personal attacks from surrogates attempting to claw their way back into both District races.

To be assured that a massive development on Fanita Ranch won’t destroy your commute – Elect Zack Gianino in District 3.

Santee District 2 – Not Polled

Rudy Reyes v. incumbent Ronn Hall. The early attacks on Rudy Reyes by status-quo surrogates subsided once they began to understand that Preserve Wild Santee efforts would be channeled primarily on the District 1 and District 3 elections. Rudy Reyes also opposes the Fanita Ranch project. If Rudy’s  canvassing effort has been substantial, incumbent Ronn Hall could be in for a surprise.
