Snake oil salesmen to promote fire vulnerable development on Fanita at city council 2/12/2020

Gridlock can be deadly with a wind driven fire storm approaching.

Fanita’s NY developers will try to convince the city council that placing thousands of homes in a “Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone” is not an issue of concern. Wednesday, 2/12/2020 @ 6:30 pm

Considering that many of you have been telling the city council for over 25 years that putting people in harms way is irresponsible, why come tell them again? Entertainment?

History tells us that the city council sides with developers over local residents on this issue. And then citizens must circulate referendum petitions and/or go to court – which is how citizens defeated 2 prior Fanita projects approved by city council.

The NY developers hope to have the Fanita project approved by city council prior to the Santee General Plan Protection Initiative potential approval at election in November. Our Initiative puts projects like Fanita and Golf Course high rise units, both requiring exemption from Santee’s General Plan, on the ballot without a signature gathering effort if the projects are first approved by city council.

Note that a similar Yes on Measure A that is intended to protect the County General Plan from fire-prone sprawl development is on your current March 3 election ballot. Vote “Yes on A” for opportunity to defeat about 10,000-units of risky sprawl development that will put our regional freeways in gridlock.
